On dreams and stuff.

I guess watching the food network and dreaming to be a chef is a bad thing, since it just shows how convoluted that industry is. I love cooking, I love working with food and seeing how they react with each other and with heat, and I love making people happy by eating good food, but it seems like... I don't know. I'll get flack for saying this, but it's a pretty sexist environment. Despite women always having to "get back into the kitchen", you always see professional chefs that are men. Am I not allowed in a kitchen if it's a professional kitchen? It just makes me mad. Not to mention how goddamn expensive culinary school is, only to be thrown into such a competitive world where you almost need to go on a show to get recognition.

Jobs are hard.

    1. Maybe a little, but even the one woman they had on iron chef is gone now! It's all men, and the only role model for female chef-to-be's on the food network is like.

      Rachael Ray.

  2. Well think your right, just see men who are chefs in the kitchen. Do you think that women could yell and be as leading as a men in the kitchen?

  8. I have a strong belief that there is still quite a lot that is segregated in this world and as you mentioned i believe that the food industry is certainly one of them. I'd be surprised if even 5% of the world-class chefs were women. It's just not common for a female chef to make it.

I say, don't let the community tell you what you can or can't do. If you want to be a chef, be a chef. If you can't make it anywhere that's already established? Establish your own and do things your way. I love cooking for all the same reasons but i doubt i'm nearly as good as you (i'm in the process of self teaching what all the different spices taste like and how they blend together well.

TLDR: Don't let others tell you that you're not good enough. If you don't fit they're mold, make a new one that's just for you.
